York was was in the Interstate League in 1943 when the Philadelphia A's visited the Martin-Parry Field on N. Highland Avenue. Over 3000 folks crowded the grandstand to witness the big leaguers win 8-0 on Thursday, September 9.

The Roses were held to six hits over six innings by Lou Ciola. York starter Red Moran lasted until Lefty George took over in the seventh. He took Ciola, May and White down in order. York never uad a chance to score according to the York Dispatch an no runners got beyond first base.
